FAQ > General > What is meant by the general statement, 'Week of Compassion works through partners'?
Because Week of Compassion is a mission fund, it does not oversee its own programs. Rather, it works through partner organizations that are also dedicated to disaster relief, refugee assistance, and sustainable development and are either historic ecumenical partners working on an international level or partner organizations working on the ground in local communities all over the world. The advantages of working through partners are many. This way, local needs can be assessed by our partners in local communities. They have technical expertise, cultural knowledge and a network of relationships to provide higher quality, more efficient, and cost effective relief for those who are affected. The historical and developing relationships WoC maintains with partners build trust and accountability and promote creative solutions among reliable, experienced, and committed organizations. Working through our implementing partners allows Week of Compassion to keep administrative costs down, which ensures that resources go where they are most needed. (See Partners)
