Church World Service Gift of the Heart Kits

Put together a small assistance package and make a big difference. Basic materials such as soap, band-aids, paper, pencils, detergent, and trash bags seem small, but make a huge difference in an ongoing development program or when disaster strikes.

That's why School Kits, Clean-Up Buckets, Health Kits and the Heart-to Heart Kids Kits are among the items most requested by our overseas partners each year. The need is great, and we can never have too many on hand.

SCHOOL KIT
* One pair of blunt scissors
* Pads or notebooks of ruled paper 8-1/2" X 11" containing 150-200 sheets of paper
* One 30-centimeter ruler (12")
* One pencil sharpener
* Six new pencils with erasers
* One large eraser
* Twelve sheets colored construction paper
* One box of 24 crayons
* One 12" X 14" cloth bag with cloth handles and a closure (Velcro, snap, or button)


Pack these items in the cloth bag and secure contents with the closure. Or, if you prefer, a donation of $13 per kit will allow Church World Service to buy school supplies for use in classroom settings.

CLEAN-UP BUCKET
These supplies enable people to begin the overwhelming job of cleaning up after a tornado, flood, hurricane, earthquake, or other disaster. The value per bucket is $45.

(1) 5-gallon bucket with resealable lid
(5) scouring pads
(7) sponges, assorted sizes
(1) scrub brush
(18) cleaning towels (reusable, like Easy Wipes)
(1) 50-78 oz. dry laundry detergent
(1) 12 oz. bottle of liquid concentrated household cleaner (like Lysol)
(1) 25 oz. bottle liquid disinfectant dish soap (like Dawn)
(50) clothes pins
Clothesline, two 50 ft. or one 100 ft.
(5) dust masks (like Benchtop)
(2) pairs latex gloves
(1) pair work gloves
(1) 22-27 count box heavy-duty trash bags (33-45 gallon)
(1) 6-14 oz. bottle of insect repellant (drops or lotion, not aerosol)

Please purchase all liquids in plastic bottles. Be sure to send only new, unopened materials. Put all items in the plastic bucket, making sure they are packed securely to avoid damage during shipment, and seal lid with packing tape. Place each Bucket in a separate box. Or, if you prefer, a donation of $45 per bucket will allow Church World Service to purchase supplies for a Clean-Up Bucket.

HEALTH KIT
* One hand towel
* One washcloth
* One comb
* One metal nail file or nail clipper with file
* One bar of soap (bath size in wrapper)
* One toothbrush (in original packaging)
* One tube of toothpaste (4-7 ounces)

Seal all items in a one-gallon plastic bag with a zipper closure. Or, if you prefer, a donation of $12 will allow Church World Service to provide a Health Kit.

KIDS KIT
Our brand new Heart-to-Heart Kids Kit recognizes that even as faces must be washed and bellies must be fed, laughter must be heard as well. To assemble a Kids Kit you will need:
One Rubbermaid® Clear Impressions shoebox with lid, 6.5 qt., or other flexible clear plastic 6.5 qt. shoebox with lid
One small stuffed bear
One soft small ball
One harmonica, or other small musical instrument
One 6” x 9” non-spiral bound pad of regular or construction paper (60-100 sheets)
One slinky
One yo-yo
One 7-foot child’s jump rope
One comb
One toothbrush
One tube of toothpaste (4-7 ounces)
One box of 24 crayons
One large eraser
Six new pencils with erasers
One pencil sharpener
One 30-centimeter ruler (12”)
One pair blunt child’s scissors

Remove excess packaging so that items fit snugly in box. Place all items inside the shoebox, close lid, and tie securely with ribbon. No time to make a kit? Donate $24.00 to Church World Service for the price of a Heart-to-Heart Kids Kit.

Complete Kits should be packed in boxes with only one type of Kit in each box. However, if you are shipping a small number of different kinds of Kits, they can be combined in one box.

Clearly mark the outside of the box with the contents.

Complete the Kits Coupon (http://www.churchworldservice.org/kits/packing.html) and enclose a copy in the top of each box before sealing.
Secure the boxes with packing tape.
