Together
We Can Put Life-Saving Medicines and Medical Supplies into the Hands of Community Health Workers in Central America with the Week of Compassion - Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) - I.M.A. Medicine Box Program
How Do We Put Together a Week of Compassion Medicine Kit?
Step 1: Collect the required products for each kit listed here>>
Please follow these collection guidelines:
Products must be new products, with unbroken seals.
Products must have expiration dates of 18 months or longer; purchase longest dating possible.
No substitution of products or strengths is acceptable.
Send only complete kits containing all required products, in quantities shown.
Generic brands are acceptable. Ask your pharmacist if a generic brand is equivalent to the listed example products.
Where possible, purchase tablets in bottles of 100 or more (see back). Samples are not acceptable.
For example, if the required number of tablets is 1,000, collect: 1 bottle of 1,000 tablets; or 2 bottles of 500 tablets each; or 4 bottles of 300 or 250 tablets each; or 8 bottles of 130 tablets each; etc.
Step 2: Pack products carefully in a carton for shipment by United States Postal Service or UPS to:
Interchurch Medical Assistance, Inc.
c/o Brethren Service Center Annex
601 Main Street
New Windsor MD 21776
If more than one kit is shipped, all kits may go inside a larger carton.
Please mark the number of kits on the outside of the carton.
(Please make checks payable to I.M.A.)
Your funds will be used to purchase additional dated medicines at the time the Medicine Box is shipped to ensure they will be fresh for the entire life of the Box. Funds are also used to purchase medicines not available in retail stores, and to ship and transport the Boxes to remote areas. Note: There may be opportunities to share the cost with the Week of Compassion; contact the WOC office at 317-713-2450 or 317-713-2442 for more information.
Please state in your letter:
- date of shipment;
- how the box was shipped (UPS or US Postal Service);
- name and phone number of your church;
- name and phone number of the contact person;
- how many kits were shipped.
