Texas9/5/2025 Houston area Over the last 10 years, the Greater Houston area has experienced multiple climate disasters. Eight of them were large enough to receive federal disaster declarations, including both a derecho windstorm and a hurricane in 2024. The city has also seen countless localized and smaller scale disasters including severe storms, power outages, and industrial accidents. Week of Compassion is working with The Restoration Team to receive volunteers for repairs to homes damaged by one or more of these disasters: Hurricane Harvey (2017), Winter Storm (2021), summer derecho (2024), Hurricane Beryl (2024).
