Greetings from the Executive Director

12/23/2024

As we move through the sacred season of Advent and Christmas, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering support you have shown to Week of Compassion. In this time of reflection and hope, we are reminded of the spirit of giving that defines our mission. Your generosity has enabled us to respond to numerous disasters and displacement crises around the world, and we are deeply thankful for the part you play in this vital work.

This past year, thanks to your support, Week of Compassion has addressed urgent needs in communities affected by natural disasters, offering not just relief but real pathways to recovery and resilience. We have also pushed forward initiatives focused on girls' education, empowering young women to build brighter and more sustainable futures. These efforts are not just numbers or statistics; they represent lives touched, families restored, and communities revitalized.

As we celebrate the birth of Christ this week and close the year, we celebrate 2024 as the 80th anniversary of Week of Compassion. As you will see in the video below, the story of Week of Compassion – starting as a single offering, for a single cause, 80 years ago – is the story of Disciples showing up where and how we are invited and needed. We give thanks for the spirit and vision that formed this ministry and continues to guide it. We are grateful for the ministry we have been able to do together over the last 80 years and are filled with hope for what lies ahead.

The work of Week of Compassion is far from over, and we are excited about the possibilities that 2025 holds. Together, we can continue to foster healing, hope, and transformation in every corner of our world. Your partnership is invaluable, and we look forward to the journey ahead.

For all the many ways Disciples serve, give, and live out the Good News, we are grateful. From all of us at Week of Compassion, we pray exceeding Great Joy for each of you in this Christmas season and throughout the NewYear.

Best regards,
