READ MORE about all the ways to connect with us in Memphis >>> SPECIAL GUEST Alma Angelica Macias is Director of Casa De La Misericordia y Todas las Naciones, a mission in Nogales, Mexico, helping asylum seekers prepare for entry to the United States. Sister Lika brings a message of embodied hope from La Casa’s work of migrant accompaniment. Since the December 2021 tornadoes, Disciples have been praying, giving, and working to support tornado-affected communities in Western Kentucky. The pre-event for General Assembly in Memphis, Tennessee, gives Disciples the chance to be up close and personal with this widespread recovery effort. HELP BUILD HOPE: Framing a House for Tornado Survivors build host: The BLVD (Mississippl Boulevard Christian Church) YOU CAN STILL SIGN UP! (Transportation to/from the Convention Center will be provided. Lunch is provided; $10 suggested donation.) Help Build Hope welcomes volunteers 5 years and up, all skill levels and abilities. Join us at our booth (166) for teach ins, 30-minute mini-workshops exploring the work and witness of Week of Compassion.
Week of Compassion, Obra Hispana, and Disciples Home Missions' Justice and Advocacy Ministries is joining with Repairers of the Breach for a Moral Monday in Memphis, and prayer vigil to stand in the gap with immigrant neighbors and stand in witness against hateful acts and injustice. Meeting first at the Civic Center Plaza with Moral Monday, then walking the few blocks to the Immigration Court for prayerful gathering, this is sure to be a powerful event. We can't wait to see you in Memphis!
