Immediately following disasters in the United States and Canada, Week of Compassion works through local congregations and regions to provide guidance, connections, and resources for navigating disaster response.
When it comes to disasters that happen in other parts of the world, our primary approach is to support our local ecumenical partners in the affected area. They are already on the ground and know the area, its leaders, and needs best, and can work within local infrastructure and relationships to assess the situation and respond immediately to the most urgent needs following a disaster. In addition to responding to emergent needs, we continue to support the work of our partners through various phases of ongoing and long-term recovery.
