     WAYS TO GIVE

Photo: Paul Jeffrey/ACT Alliance
When you give to Week of Compassion, you can be confident that your gift makes a meaningful impact in the world. With a global network of ecumenical partners and decades of experience in humanitarian work, we effectively dispatch your gifts to carry out our mission. Here are some of the ways that you can give:

Online Giving

When you make your gift online, you will have the opportunity to designate an amount;  choose a particular area of our work or “Where Most Needed;” and let us know what congregation you are connected with so your local church can receive recognition for total giving to Week of Compassion. Whether you share a one time gift or set up a regular recurring gift, we are grateful for your support!

Planned Giving

Week of Compassion operates as a ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and is covered under the denomination’s IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status through the General Assembly’s group exemption. Week of Compassion is eligible to receive donor-advised fund distributions, and bequests and other planned gifts may be made through a variety of charitable giving options. All gifts to Week of Compassion are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. More about planned giving and other donor information can be found here.

Special Offering
Each year the last two Sundays of February are set aside as “The Week of Compassion” in many congregations. With special promotional materials and worship resources that center around a common theme, it’s a time for Disciples all over the world to celebrate this powerful ministry, and to share  a spirit of generosity together.

Some congregations choose a different week or season to emphasize Week of Compassion, and our worship resources are available online for use at anytime throughout the year. When you give through your local congregation’s special offering, you are participating along with thousands of other Disciples congregations across the United States and Canada!

Endowments
Whether establishing a legacy for a congregation, honoring a family member or other connection, an endowment fund is an excellent way to create a sustainable stream of income to support the mission of Week of Compassion far into the future!  Many congregations and individuals have created named endowment funds to honor their family's or church's commitment to continue long-term support of a ministry they love.

Circle of Compassion
The Circle of Compassion is made up of churches that establish a named fund within the Week of Compassion Endowment Fund, giving above and beyond their regular special offering each year. As annual distributions from the endowment are received, it frees up designated dollars to support communities  during times of disaster, displacement, and enduring need. This distribution is included as part of the congregation’s denominational giving record, increasing the church's annual Week of Compassion support.

Contact us to learn more about setting up an Endowment or Circle of Compassion fund through the Christian Church Foundation.

Special Events
If you’re looking for a unique, fun way to get your church involved in supporting water initiatives, consider holding a wine and cheese tasting, a happy hour, or a sit-down dinner as a fundraiser.

Churches large and small from across the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) are partnering with local merchants, enlisting local musicians, and becoming advocates in their own communities for clean water in places such as Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

Wine to Share: Water for All is designed to encourage the creativity of congregations, as well as promote and support clean water and water-related justice issues. You know the resources in your church and community. We can help provide you with advocacy and educational resources, as well as connect you with a project for you to support with your event.

For more information about how to host a Wine:Water or other gathering as a Week of Compassion fundraiser, please contact us.
