eastern Kentucky12/18/2024 Appalachia![]() In February of 2025, snow melt combined with historic rainfall to cause destructive flooding across eastern Kentucky. Many of the affected areas were still recovering from flooding that occurred in the summer of 2022. Week of Compassion is working with multiple partners to receive volunteers for cleanup and home repairs.: Pike County Relief Services (hosted by First Christian Church, Pikeville KY) Pike County Relief Services is flexible in accommodating groups of various ages and sizes. Reach out to us for more details. Appalachia Service Project Appalachia Service Project is also responding to damage from Hurricane Helene across a multi-state region. Site details and group requirements vary, including work that is open to volunteers as young as 11. Schedules, meals, and accommodations depend on the specific site. Reach out to us for more details.
