Thank you for your interest in volunteering!
By serving in a community affected by disasters, you help transform suffering into hope. Week of Compassion has many active opportunities to serve, and more in development. Disaster Recovery Volunteer Grants are available if assistance is needed with registration or travel costs to serve at these sites. If you are interested in a location that is not listed, please email us. We are always happy to help make connections with other partners!

Puerto Rico10/2/2023 In late September 2022, Hurricane Fiona made landfall in Puerto Rico, destroying homes, buildings, and systems still recovering from Hurricanes Irma and Maria five years earlier. We are partnering with Presbyterian Disaster Assistance in Puerto Rico to receive volunteers to continue supporting the recovery efforts following hurricanes Maria, Irma and Fiona on the island. All skill levels are needed! In the words from leaders on the island, It is our sincere hope that you will come to describe your journey as a 'mission pilgrimage.' More than a difference in semantics, we believe that by undertaking to make a mission pilgrimage, we more easily shift our perspective from 'What am I going to do?' to 'What is God going to do in and through me and those I meet?' o Presbyterian Disaster Assistance has two locations for housing and work: San Juan and Aguada
– minimum age: 14 (2 adults for every 5 minors) – maximum group size: 16 – registration fee: San Juan - $35 per person per day // $45 per person perday in Aguada – Registration fee covers the cost of housing (bunk rooms at local churches) and may also include on-island transportation. – Groups are responsible for their own meals and transportation to/from Puerto Rico. – Work includes roof repairs, exterior painting, and interior repairs – PDA coordinates with multiple local construction partners including Techos Pa' Mi Gente and SBP Puerto Rico – Groups typically arrive Sunday, work Monday-Friday, and depart on Saturday. We are happy to help arrange connections with local Disciples of Christ churches during your trip as well. Comments are closed.
