"Hospitality Looks Different"2/10/2022
Fuller Center Disaster ReBuilders has set up a base of operations at FCC to serve the affected communities in the area. (Learn more about volunteering -https://www.weekofcompassion.org/volunteering.html - or complete our Volunteer Interest Form - https://bit.ly/wocVolunteerInterest.)
Floyd Pearson, a Disciple layperson and Week of Compassion long-term volunteer, is serving as a site leader to help lead volunteers and coordinate between FCDR and Week of Compassion. He has been busy setting up beds, organizing tool trailers, and preparing work sites for volunteers. This month, week-long teams of Amish disaster volunteers are housed and hosted at the church while working on homes in nearby towns. Yesterday, First Christian’s Senior Pastor Kara Foster pointed out the difference this wide-ranging partnership is making not only in the community, but right in their front yard! I’ve had some people ask about our colorful display. If you did not know we have three weeks of Amish disaster volunteers staying in our building First Christian Church, Madisonville, Ky. They are giving their time, dollars, & skills to give storage units & working on fixing homes for free in Dawson & Bremen. They don’t come with a lot of clothes & are limited by technology in how they can do things. Hospitality looks different with a diverse Church. Enjoy the colors on this sunny day!
