See You At Assembly!

In a little over a week, Disciples from all around the United States and Canada will gather in Des Moines for a time of worship, fellowship and sharing in the work of the church. It’s an exciting time to catch up with old friends, and to be energized and inspired for ministry.

With so many people and ministries to catch up with, General Assembly can be a very busy time that goes by quickly. As you plan your time in Des Moines, here are some ways you can connect with Week of Compassion throughout the week: 

Sunday you’ll have the opportunity to hear Week of Compassion staff preach at Des Moines area churches:

Any time! Look for our staff, board members, and partners in the Exhibit Hall! Come by and say hello; pick up information from our partners, hear updates from Week of Compassion since our last General Assembly, pick up a sticker with our new logo that you can display on your name badge and help us share Week of Compassion. More importantly, come and taste some delicious chocolate from our fair-trade partner Equal Exchange while you roam around the booth area.  As we celebrate 75 years of ministry this year, we’ll display some “vintage” Week of Compassion promotions along with our new materials. 
 
Monday evening Worship on Monday will feature a special offering for Week of Compassion; an opportunity for the Church to continue to support and partner together in this ministry that we share.  

​Tuesday evening @5pm is the Week of Compassion dinner. The event was sold out, but we were able to extend our table and add more tickets. There is still time! Please purchase your ticket by July 10 so that we can have an accurate count. 

Tuesday night StoryHour. In collaboration with the University of Chicago Disciples Divinity House and Vanderbilt Disciples Divinity House, this gathering has quickly become a favorite Assembly after session. Join us as several Week of Compassion staff and friends share their “Fail Stories.”

Assembly is a wonderful time for connecting with old friends and making new ones. As we celebrate 75 years of ministry “around the world, around the year,” we hope to “see you around” Des Moines!
